ARAKI, Israel — A photojournalist from New Jersey has been arrested and charged with violating New Jersey’s strict anti-terrorism laws, according to a police report obtained by The Associated Press.
The arrest of Shimon Araki, 36, was made public Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New Jersey, which also includes Newark.
Police say Arai was arrested after he was photographed taking pictures in the middle of the street during a protest.
The report says he was arrested while standing on a street corner with a large group of people.
Arai is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Newark District Court.
