A New York Mets catcher and right fielder are on the mend after suffering season-ending injuries in the team’s series with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
New York sent reliever Zach Britton to the disabled list Tuesday, and shortstop Brandon Nimmo is back in the lineup after missing nearly two weeks with a strained oblique.
Britton and Nimmo were both injured in a game at Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
They are now expected to be back in action Wednesday in Pittsburgh.
Britt on the injury: “It feels like I’ve been out there for a week and a half and it’s been like, I’m not feeling it.
I’ve had to work on my mechanics a little bit.
I’m still getting used to this thing.”
Nimmo on the injuries: “I’m pretty sore.
It’s been pretty hard for me to do this, so I think it’s a good thing to get back to playing.
I know I’ve got to get better.”
