DALLAS — The husband of a wedding photographer who died in the hospital after suffering from hypothermia has been charged with first-degree murder.
John J. McDaniel Jr., 54, was arrested on Wednesday after his arrest on charges of first- and second-degree reckless homicide, according to D.C. police.
McDaniel, a veteran of the Army, was taken to the hospital by his wife on Saturday, police said.
His wife was transported to the U.S. Capitol for treatment.
“It’s a terrible tragedy,” said D.D. Jones, who represents McDaniel.
The couple has a son together and a daughter.
Police are looking for three other people who were with McDaniel in the ambulance when the ambulance picked him up.
The car was stopped at a traffic light at the Capitol.
McDaniel’s wife told investigators she was able to get to her husband’s car because she had a jacket with her and his wife, according a police affidavit.
She was taken in to the ambulance to the trauma center.
She passed away Tuesday at 2:17 p.m. in the trauma department of Northwest Washington Hospital.
McDonald was released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, according and police have said he had a seizure.
He was arrested by D.A. Jones and taken to Washington County Jail.
At his arraignment Thursday, McDaniel appeared calm, smiling and in good spirits, Jones said.
McAdams funeral was held Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Georgetown, where the couple was married in 1983.
A memorial service was held Thursday in the parking lot of the Georgetown Catholic Church.
